Hey, so i remember discovering Obs for cod4, and it was wonderful!, ive since then followed, and watched, and waited.
I keep regurlarly checking, for any sign of a newer version.

- I have read a responce that stated rougly, that BlackOps was failed, and was not going to be worked on, i was looking for more confirmation?(:

I was wondering if there was any chance of obscurity hitting the newer cod games. (i know there s---ty, but hey)

Im no modder, not close, but i do learn fast.
So if anything comes up, i may even have my own shot at something similar, maybe like the HIDDEN mod that ive heard about.

Lastly, my only issue with obscurity, is that i never found a server?, i could never find an active server aside from the one with a huge ping, and only ever three people playing. >.> I actualy had to try and host my own server, which worked, but there just werent enough people.

Anyway, to summarise;

* I would like to see obscurity again.
* Could you tell me how hard it is to make such a mod? w/ and then withought modtools.
* Mw3 zombie mod is acceptable, but it is nothing compared to another obscurity.
* Im curious, after so long of watching, is anybody still here?..

Thanks in advance for any responce(:

We are still here, but work on Obs has slowed down a bit. We updated it a little a few months back (the latest version is on OC1 server), but since then, not much has been done towards it.

Unfortunately, all we can do is provide the mod we cannot provide all the servers, which is one thing that holds modding back a little when it comes to multiplayer games (I have been keeping the OC1 server up and running out of my own pocket for a few years now, although the odd donation helped out on occasion which I am greatful for). Mods only seem to stay active whilst the main game stays active. We kept Obscurity going for about 4-5 years with non-stop updates, which kept it somewhat alive, but as each POS COD game came out, players moved on...until it is at the state it is now. IceOps is probably the most active Obscurity server out there and is your best chance at a good game of Obs. Currently there are 15/18 players in it.

I am sure we will have other projects in the future, but it is unlikely to be COD related. You will most likely hear any news of other projects on the Obscure Creations website, Snakelet's Youtube Channel or Obscure Creations Facebook page.

I am not saying Obscurity updates are no longer coming, just that if they are, it will not be anytime soon that I can foresee as we are both very busy.

I saw that Falcar has already addressed your other questions on the Obscure Creations Facebook page, so I will leave it at that. Good luck with your modding endeavours Cool

Incorrect memory I am sorry to say :P

We may have thought about it at one stage, but no, there are no other versions of Obscurity currently in the works. Sorry.

Snakelet:

I personally think that obscurity should be it's own game. It's too good just to be a mod. I know this is a ridiculous idea, but you might want to (if you haven't done it already) look into making Obscurity into it's own game. I know that would be so hard to pull off, but it is such a good game - much better than a lot of others out there. Anyway, crazy idea for the day.

I also agree that it would be great to make into a standalone game, but at current it is really not possible. Creating a game costs money and time. Between Falcar and myself combined, these are both somewhat lacking at the moment. The other big issue we see is in regards to multiplayer gaming as a whole. There is currently no way we can afford the server infrastructure required to get a multiplayer game out there and people playing it.

Falcar and I would love to bring a stand alone version of Obscurity to you all one day, but that day is not anytime soon. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. We both dabble with ideas, and experiment with engines here and there, but we have nothing solid to announce in regards to another project at current. If we ever do announce it, Obscurity fans will be first to know.

As for new mods...
A lot of developers are going down the path of not allowing community driven content and thus not releasing content creation assets. This is disappointing to see, but also fairly predictable. People pay for DLC, which is more money in the publisher/devs pockets. Restricting content works extremely well in encouraging players to pay for DLC. Business is business.

Unfortunately true, I suppose. I guess it would also take a lot of time and effort to get a kickstarter going, too, or get in touch with a gaming company. Oh well.

We do want to make it and would love to eventually try, but don't go holding your breath for it to occur anytime soon because we wouldn't want you to suffocate :P

I'm no game designer/ editer/ publisher/ or creator. But, I am working on a computer science/ Information systerms degree. If ever this idea of a standalone looked like it was about to even remotely kick off, I would love to provide as much man power as I can. I feel in love with this mod when I first found it and It would be a thrilling idea to help work on it. I do understand limitations and all of that other stuff. It is what it is. I'm just "throwing myself out there." Good luck with all you do Snake, you as well Falcar. You guys did a wonderful job with the mod and it's been a pleasure playing it. Certainly can't wait to get back to it.
