there isn't much to say here really, the lmg is way to over powered and spammy, and is a completely ludicrous weapon, needing you to merely wave your gun around wildly and wait for someone to fall over. reducing its accuracy would help very much, it will just in courage yet MOAR spam, so i would suggest a fire rate decrease, as a damage reduction will make it basically like a big P90.

edit: reucing accuracy wouldn't help very much

I'm unsure of what to do with them either.... reducing accuracy won't do anything at it isn't used for anything but point-blank combat anyway, which really isn't the point of them. hmm...

I could do that..... but the maximum recoil you can put on hipfire (as most people use it) is hardly noticeable... :(

Why not replace that with just a medic who gets points for medding and prob supplying ammo.

Ways I can think of to change it are:

• Smaller clips, still make them have the largest clips, but could take some of the ammo away.

• Reduce the damage: Maybe make it take like, 10+ hits to drop a guy, but would still encourage spam.

• Make the player move even slower

• Make the reload even slower

• More spread

• Really slow pull-out, put away time so switching to pistol becomes painful when your clip goes dry.

• Slow the turning on spot when firing, so it's really hard to turn whilst spamming it.

• If you spam the LMG too much it overheats, and your hands catch on fire, and gun drops to ground and cant be picked up until the fire stops Tongue out

nice ideas snake, it like the walk slower and less damage, however i think it should be 15 to drop a guy since 10 shots doesn't take long for an LMG

  • They could randomly jam, needing a reload to fix...omg...that would suck!
  • Make a cooldown on them like games where you get unlim ammo but if spam too much it needs to cool down
  • Less damage the closer the target is. Kind alike the sniper rifles.
  • Decrease firerate, probably been said.
  • Make it shoot in like 10 bullet bursts

More to come...hopefully.

Trying not to remove weapons..we will see.

I still think reducing turning speed while firing would counter it's use as a CQ weapon as all the obs would need to do is leap. Would still allow enough movement to cover spray when far back.

how about if u spray with the lmg u become a visible target to the obs whever u are becuse of the heat energy given off by the weapon??

Give them a 'warm-up' period? So that after you start firing, the gun takes like 2s or 3s (or more) to start firing?

Heh makes me think of miniguns whirring their multiple barrels before firing.... unfortunately not possible in this heavily limited engine :(

Falcar you can add miniguns for the stationary MGs. There are 2 issues with them tho. They use extra xmodels and the barrels have to spin constantly. The modernpaintball mod has them and we(with a little help from crazyankles) added them to our x4 server.

i still think the hot pink idea is nice..well the bloodlust part from spraying lol. it makes sense because spraying with a weapons gives off heat<--- which the obs could "sense" if you will.

Hi. 1st time posting. Been playing this nice mod for a few weeks now. Love the work you've done so far. I played as either what i call a Full-Mobile P90 or a double tap Camping Heavy MG. Didn't even touch other guns so far. Anyway -

I say it would be smart to make them overheat, and disable the "Hustle" & "Extreme Conditioning" perks for the class. If that proves too litle then maaaaybe cut the ammo to about 80, 85%, (and perhaps nerf the movement speed another 5-10%)

That would make sure they aren't very mobile, can't run and it would make sure they'll get stranded with a long reload time if they spam.

 

The bloodlust when overheated is a nice idea, but I think if you set it up the way I discribed Obscurity players will very quickly learn that where theres LMG fire, theres a soon to be helpless victim. No need to serv them on a silver plate. If that is done the class will become practicly unplayable.

So like this - as long as an Obs would play it safe and make the LMGer waste his ammo he would sooner or later get the chance to attack head on, if not flank him before due to his slow movement. If in a squad a LMGer would still make a formidable foe... but who says you cant teleport him to an offhand place on the map or leave him for last. ;) Besides... theres nothing quite like possessing a camping LMGer and then using that huge gun of his to put holes in the rest of his squad. :)

 

That's the jest of what I'd do about the LMGs for starts. Once the players learn I think the class would be well balanced.

Ps.: When overheating it would be nice to add smoke emmiting from the MG and a sort of a hissing sound (you know - from the heat) so that the Obs player can tell when theres an opurtune moment to strike.

They've already nerfed LMG's a lot. I'm not saying they couldn't use more, however I think they're concentrating on other things now. And I think the bloodlust is just fine on every class. I mean, if people know an obs gets blodlust, yet they still camp, the they deserve it no matter what class they are. We've also talked about rotation speed limitations (slower turning)  when you're firing so that people can't just turn in circles and spam. But it's going to happen anyway so yeah xD  People will always find ways to break things =P And all the tactics you've provided are already well in use. Out of curiosity which server are you playing on?

 

Also it's normal for the newer people to go straight for LMG's or the P90, however all weapons in this mod have been modified and balanced.

Well depending on where you live the EAS server almost CONSTANTLY has 15+ people on it. Most of the time it's maxed at 22. The server is based in Chicago America, so yeah, it might be better for you if you live in the US. I go on the LOG server sometimes to try and make my rounds xD And lists are great! However I'm just letting you that it's most likely that most of the ideas you write have already been suggested or are not possible because of an Xmodel limit which is a fail on the part of the IW Engine. Can't wait to hear them =) We love constructive feedback =)
