Snake what size would be ideal for a signature (so I don't whore heaps of space and make people load more :P)

No wider then 350pixels, preferably not super high.

Yours just seems a little.. idk square for a sig. usually they are banner type like Snakelets and mine. If you can aim for those sizes that'd be much easier for them since they won't have to resize it for you.

I think I might just implement a feature in peoples options to disable sigs, or something along those lines.
