Hi guys,

I've been learning modding for the past few months (mainly scripting), which has been coming on quite well, yet theres one problem I cant seem to shake - material files.

I've tried every combination of .tga and .dds with Alpha & Mask Layers yet each time the material (the material files are for a hud elem btw) loads with a white background surrounding the image. I've scoured the the internet looking for solutions yet nothing suggested seems to work - just thought I'd ask you obs guys since you use numerous materials for your overhead icons.

 

I'm using CS3 Ext btw

Grab the nvidea dds exporter for photo shop and export it as dds5 which will be in the export settings. make sure you only have one alpha channel.

Tried that mate, but thanks anyway. Could you maybe post the settings you use in asset-manager? Then I'll know my issue doesn't lie within my material conversion method. Audio

I don't think we made any materials with alpha maps from scratch, we used a hex editor to change the references in existing files.

Nah, I have created some material files from scratch for a few things. It may have been for WAW, but they are basically the same. I'm pretty sure the obscurity skin material file was created from scratch also, as it took me ages to get the distortion working. I guess we will see whether I can help or not once I get home and have the time to check.
