Hey guys, Spider here ^.^

 

     I was just experimenting with the knifing range on one of the levels and I found out that the knifing range is rather obscenely long sometimes. I had a guy stand still on the other side of a barrier and I knifed at him completely expecting to miss, and to my utter surprise I killed him. So I've been speccing some people and I find that once in a while some of the obs (And marines) get OBSCENELY long knife kills. I was thinking that maybe you should shorten this distance by a good foot or so? Because the way it is right now the knife hit is longer than your arm would actually be. And I was wondering if the knifing mechanic was just a straight line infront of you or if it was a small 10degree zone infront that would be hit if they are in that area. And of course this doesn't mean anything if these monsters are supposed to have REALLY long arms, lol. And I understand that the added range might be to make up for the automelee_0 but still, just food for thought.

     Also today while I was playing an interesting snipe happened. I was coming up on a guy with a sniper rifle, and he shot me as I was approaching at about 9 feet away. Now I accepted this because it DOES happen from time to time, however, when I watched the replay, I was approaching from the right side of his screen, and when he shot from the hip the bullet went through my head on the far right side of the screen (Acceptable bullet spread from a hip shot) however the bullet hit a point on the ground on the FAR LEFT of the screen!? I'm just wondering if, in COD4, Space, is curved... It just struck me (ba dum tish) as odd that the bullet did that...

 

Anyway, just some food for thought for the next update! ^.^  Hope you guys enjoy your enegery drinks >.< Or pizza, w/e lol.

Bahaha u just got nub pwned. Bullets land anywhere within a crosshair and that little peice of ur head that was in it just happened to be in the wrong place @ the wrong time.

Hrmmm... I don't think I'm painting the picture correctly then. What I'm tyring to get accross is that Where my head was, and where the bullet hit the ground through penetration, were no where remotely close to eachother. Like, the spot where the bullet would have hit after hitting my face was on the wall behind me on the right side of his screen, but in fact the bullet hit the ground on the left side of the screen. I was just confused >.<

So let me get this striaght... your on the ---> side of the screen.
Bullet hits <--- side of screen. And your (O;O) get wtfpwnt?

That sounds like a good ol mind fuck to me. *Excuse language* But if that is true then -
1-Someone else shot
2-Call of Duty 4 was built in conjunction with the 'Wanted' Movie
3-Someone else shot >.>
4-He hax
5-Someone else didnt shoot and your just making shit up
7-The game sometimes does that to me but i have noticed that depending on what your graphics setting is and it is identical to the person you are speccing that it tries to define which bullet to follow, which means that in your screen you get a bit of lead to your face and on his screen the game glitches the bullet hole X|Y factor and places it completely random on the screen.
8-One of your teeth came out when you got raped and hit the ground at such force it could have killed an elephant
9-The bullet can ricochet?
10-You all didnt notice there wasnt a number 6 =D
11-You looked to see there was no number 6
13-I just about got you again =D



Yes i agree, the knifing distance is extremely ludacris, Its you practically ripping your arm off, grabbing it, then swinging it and knifing the enemy. Please deal to the problem.

The knifing range is 1 inch ( or 2.5cm ) longer than stock cod4... the only reason it could appear to be ridiculously long is because the autoaim, and thus the lunging animation, has been removed so the camera isn't thrown forwards.

I think it's a compilation of that, the obscurity view frame which seems like elongated tunnel vision, and my suckiness at knifing, lol. Good to know exactly what's going on, lol. Thanks for the info ^.^

Hey spider here making a large bump. I'd just like to revisit this because I was playing on EAS server today with a couple others that play a lot, and they were starting to say how incredibly long the knifing animation was at times. I realize that it looks like that because the animation is disabled but it's still hapening. However, is there anyway to stop the lunge altogether? Not just the animation but the lunge? Cause it's kinda long and there's some BS kills going on. Idk how the code works and what is actually possible when straying from the original code when it comes to range and width of a knife attack, but I think some feedback would be good. People complaining >.< Thanks!

 

Also idea for Obs power. Deactivate Marine nightvision for 5-10 seconds. ^>^

TBH I don't really see a problem with the knife and or animations. If you want to get into a knife fight with an invisible guy be my guest.

There currently isn't any lunge OR lunge animation whatsoever, I don't know what they're talking about lol
