Yep, for all those who have asked, and all those who will ask in the future:
1. We don't encourage grind, it's lame and puts players at an unfair advantage from playing more hours (when really you should rather be more SKILLED after more hours to get your advantage). 2. The ranks wouldn't be persistent across versions of the mod, so go into HEAT and lose your ranks from ATS etc etc... also if servers follow the trend of changing the folder name every update, you'd lose it then too. 3. The squad icons have replaced the rank icon's place on the scoreboard, and there really isn't any way to add ANYTHING to the scoreboard (as it is all hard coded).
Those are the main ones, and even ignoring the effects of these (having no squads and encouraging grind although you'd have to start over every update/server) it would involve a whole heap of work for negligible gain.... Just be glad you have everything at your disposal now :D

And people hack levels, so it is another reason.

With the 3rd reason, couldnt you simply change the .menu file and add a script that tells the game what to draw there? im not exactly the best at scripting and that but i cant see anything wrong with it. but ye unless people stop changing the name of the mod theres nothing much you can do.

It's not a menu it's hard coded. One or two things can be changed by dvars, like the colours, but that's the full extent to which you can modify it.

well im not sure if this will help but here is a link to gametracker for this server--what it is,is a thing that monetors every player on cod4 (well for other games as well i think) and i found this servers one on it-- it tells you how many points you have and it also numbers everyone that has played in this server from most points (best player) to lowest points (worst player). hope this helps =D http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/180.189.157.116:28960/top_players/

As if bump a year + dinosaur thread... The score will obviously be higher, depending on how many hours you put into obs. Theres some decent obscurity players out there who don't get the chance to play as much as they could unfortunately.
Besides that, this bump is completely irrelevant, lol The In-game ranking system is what they were talking about, not score tracking.
There's no such thing as a 'worst player', Just people who haven't got the gist of it yet :)
Practice makes perfect.

Indeed Lazer is correct
We have heard of this "game-track-er" you speak of, it's been a part of the sidebar (to the left, the server list) for a very long time
The thing that most people want with the ranking system is a whole heap of grindy, positive-reinforcement styled "unlocks". Basically so people who have been playing for ages can utterly obliterate newcomers, without them having any chance to defend themselves.
